I swear to God this was an accident. Last week, I looked up at my window sill and saw my iced tea sitting next to my first pair of glasses from eighth grade. Of course, I immediately recalled the Yoko Ono Sason Of Glass album cover. For those of you who are too young to remember or have preferred to forget, Yoko caused quite a controversy when she used the bloody eyeglasses Lennon was wearing the night he was murdered in this disturbing photograph, not long after the incident. At the time, the public was very divided about the artistic point and questionable taste of the image. Personally, I was much more critical about the artistic point and questionable taste of Yoko’s singing. It’s interesting, with the benefit of thirty years (can you believe it?), I still have mixed feelings about Yoko’s photograph. What do you think?
